John Walters, [1759 - 1789], son of the famous Welsh lexicographer John Walters [1721-1797], '... poet... and became a scholar of Jesus College Oxford, whence he matriculated in on 17 Dec. 1777. He served for a time as sub-librarian at the Bodleian Library... he was appointed fellow of his college and first master of Cowbridge School... [See DNB, W pp. 719 - 720]. Cat. Wiskundig Genootschap comp. p. 182 [ed. 1659]: DSB vol. I, pp. 473 - 476: 'His "Euclides Elementorum libri XV..." appeared at Cambridge in 1655; to its 1657 reedition (Reissued in 1659) was appended his edition of Euclid's "Data". Both reappeared in 1678, together with Barrow's "Lectio ...de Sphaera & Cylindro..." ... first Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at Cambridge ... resigned his Chair (to Newton) to become royal chaplain in London... University vice-chancellor in 1675 ... Barrow's relationship with Newton, although of considerable historical importance, has never been clarified. ...':
